Freelance journalist Prashant Kanojia, who was arrested by the Lucknow police for allegedly posting a faux tweet, was granted bail by the Allahabad Excessive Courtroom, his spouse stated on Wednesday.
“Prashant has secured bail from the Excessive Courtroom,” stated his spouse Jagisha Arora. “My religion within the judiciary and Baba Saheb’s [B.R. Ambedkar] structure has paid off,” she stated on Twitter.
Mr. Kanojia was arrested in August for allegedly posting on Twitter a tweet purportedly about Dalits, tribals and Backward Castes individuals being barred from coming into the Ram Mandir. He was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police from his Delhi residence.
Based on an FIR registered on the Hazratganj police station right here, Mr. Kanojia was accused of posting on Twitter the screenshot of a submit attributed to Sushil Tiwari, a member of a little bit identified fringe group Hindu Military. Within the submit, Mr. Kanojia allegedly made a sarcastic comment about barring entry to the Ram Mandir for OBC, SC and ST communities. The stated submit couldn’t be discovered on Mr. Tiwari’s timeline.
